Traveling from the UK & Ireland

 

The handiest way to get to St Jean Pied de Port is to get a flight to Biarritz. Ryanair offer direct flights from Birmingham, London (Stansted) and Dublin.

 

Easyjet also offer flights from London (Gatwick) and Bristol.

 

British Airways fly to Madrid from London and onto a number of destinations in the north of Spain

 

From Biarritz you can take the bus to Bayonne and connecting train to St Jean Pied de Port.

 

Another option would be to take a taxi to St Jean at a cost of around €100. You could consider sharing the costs with other pilgrims if there are any heading your way.

 

You could also consider flying to Bilbao from London (Stansted) or From Dublin with Aer Lingus.

 

From here you can take a bus or train to Bayonne, Roncesvalles, Pamplona or Burgos. Depending on where you want to start your walk from.

You might also consider flying to Madrid, Valladolid (Ryanair from London Stansted) if you are starting near Burgos and Santander (Ryanair from Dublin or London Stansted) if you are starting near León.

 

Traveling from within Europe

There are lots of European budget airlines that fly to all the major cities along the Camino. For the best deals check out the following websites:

 

If you are planning to start in St Jean Pied de Port take a flight to Paris and then get a train to Bayonne and then get a connecting train to St Jean.

 

There are lots of cheap bus and rail connections throughout Europe which will take you to or close to any of the main points along the camino.

Traveling from outside Europe

 

This depends on where you decide to start your walk.

 

If you plan on starting in St Jean Pied de Port then you are best getting a flight to Paris or Biarritz.

Ryanair fly to Biarritz from Dublin & London.
